Hah, nowadays i only blog abt what i think once a month.

Guess what i'm obessed with korean drama and variety series. I literally finished 5-6 drama series in 2 wks. Of cos i watch 4xtimes faster than the total duration :) speed videoing! Now i understand what those girls in school or church talk about. Bad thing its very VERY addictive stuff. I wanna spend my time more wisely. Important i put God's word and everything about it first.

Strangely even though i'm going to ORD alot of shit is happening in camp. Most doesn't concern me cos i'm ORDing but i'm fighting for my juniors. My dad ask me what i learnt about army, i told him "Inefficient and poor leadership" Sigh that's my takeaway from unit life. Training days is completely different anyways.

And oh i need to plan for my birthday party!

Sup peeps, today is fantastic awesome day, i finally pass my driving. Spend so much money and hours at that driving centre especially after my dismounts. It's done and i can move onto other things finally. Want to like learn baking and dancing immediately. But dec and jan is packed with so much holidays and events (including waiting for my ORD day!) thank God for all so far!

Just finished tertiary camp, man this really one of the better camps i been to.

God is working and the people who came are supportive and involved.

Best retreat so far. More is yet to come i really need to plan out what to do next year, next yr i'm going to be an overseer, keep feeling like i'm not up to it, but that's the devils lie! I'm going assume responsibility and supervise things to the best under God's help.

such a long weekend in church and it took a whole week of preparation in order to do it right. finally its over, worship, sharing, teritary retreat programme. Man so many things, glad they are done pretty well. Thank God for the weekends, i loved it so much. Since driving is over for a while, i will be baking, playing guitar, going lessons for dance? idk, anything is possible as long as i dun be a sloth at home!

Need to buck and be constantly with my prayer, the thing is how i often only seek him in my problems or discomfort, just like my earthly parents i only find them when i need help. church camp this year is incredibly fantastic! you need to be there to experience what we gone through. i really feel this yr will be HUGE turning point of the youth. Many of us are coming up to testify, many of us coming up to pick up roles and some of us got to speak on stage alr.

Now i'm at home after a tough wisdom tooth surgery, my my. They give me 10 plus jabs at the start of the treatment! That was probably the most painful moment. I expected only 1 injection like the previous wisdom tooth, but that was crazy. A senior consultant of NDC is already doing my tooth, i wonder if i did in army camp, i'll just scream.

Taking my guitar back and forth to peace centre to repair. Seriously, this brings back a lot of memories for me. Simply as a guitar fanatic, i always tour the shops to buy new stuff, gadgets, strings, picks, anything just to make my guitar better. Carry my guitar to school, stadiums, tuition, restaurants, buses, in fact i dun even feel any addition weight or burden carrying it on the train or bus. Buy bells and a santa hat for it during christmas, purchase guitar stands.

I can't believe my attitude has changed so much for my guitar. I could almost say i loved it like its my child (100% sounds wrong, but its correct way to express this) Not to say i can't play anything now, i can still enjoy myself completely just playing the guitar alone even without the crowd, but its nvr the first i would use or do with my free time anymore. Hmm...why? No idea.

Its been a beautiful week except for an upsetting ulcer in my mouth. Doc say takes one wk to recover, hell of an irritation. The medicine seems pretty inefficient. Its still rather pain.

Well, lets see what i need to do,

Driving, hmm faster finish la! i'm at parallel parking so far so good except for the slots available for lessons. God bless him with less students pls :P Hah busy instructor.

Bake, maybe i wanna try making some delicious butter and spreads for my breakfast instead. Try something like brandy maple syrup butter? The perfect pancake ingredient.

Yo blog, im in camp taking care of an empty cell thats all im doing for today. Sleeping and eating, just the norms of survival. That's my saturday in camp when i should be in church for youth. I wish i can attend youth every week and still like carry out my duties like normal but no, you don't always get what you want. Its still way better to be here than any other units, i trade my military experience to see the life, the dark and twisted side to be exact. This people can be said to be the worst, the scum of society, nuisance. Most are just unrepentant of their behaviours and they severely pay for it in army. That's why its so important to start doing the right thing since one is young when they have the time to learn.

been in camp mounting as the lone sgt, every decision u make is all in ur hands, every mistake will arrowed back to u next day. i only beginning to feel how my older spec feel doing duty alone for 5 mths straight. Sure to come out stronger.

Think i've been going through a lot of day in and out living, trying to survive, trying to fend for myself during this NS period. Of cos i prefer this compared to JC but the main pt i really need to release all things i do to God, give that seat to Him, for he can truely shoulder it all. the song breakeven by the script been running in my head "I'm still alive but i'm barely breathing" and the next line, "pray to God i don't believe in" sometimes it speaks of truth. consistency is key.

MAROON 5 was da bomb! very very good and tight band, and their live is so much better their albums. (and i thought their albums are fantastic in the first place!) definitely worth the cash, that was the first thing on my mind, i wish i bought better seats :P

Well, i baked again to relieve myself from the world, its somehow the same feeling i get when u play a computer game except that it has some edible benefits to it.

I clocked the hours at home watch The Pacific, quite a dark emotional movie compared to its sister series Band of brothers. Americans portrayed here are no heroes, they just go through the suffering of it, even after the war, many showed devastating effects of the war. Hmm better not get into war man, its really shit.

Whatsup on a saturday, being the lone spec in my section during this mount. Very quiet duty, quite a good thing for a change. I must say though a bit of activity will be good. It makes EPO back to normal, it keeps the section on their toes.

Anyway sometimes i feel intimidated by the many people that are under me who are older. Being the youngest few people in army (people here are from like 20-24) its a huge responsibility to wear the 3 stripes, of cos that was earned fairly through training. Respect, can only be earned in works i do.

Church stuff is going to pick up soon, livewire needs and will meet growth. Saturday not being in church pretty much sucks, not because is a familiar rountine. I don't experience a time of sharing and God's power on His people. Will have to buck up my praying, i find it difficult to pray well nowadays.

Hmm lets start with today where i pass my final theory test for driving, whoohoo. Now i need to finish driving practical then it will be completely over! I can just take care of EPO duties, especially since i send in all my documents and applications to the universities.

My duty in camp. I feel like i'm doing people's dirty work and a scrapegoat when anything messed up. People don't really understand the complexity of the SOP in my station. Anyway shift work do sucks, body clock screwing up already. My section mates are pretty workable with and also one of the best people to be friends with.

Crepe!

Sup people, not much going on except my wallet got stolen in camp last week. Pretty sucky to know that all of us are enforcers of the law but yet this kind of things happen with the camp boundaries. Sian. I had to take a lot of time to replace all the cards and make 15A and police report. 100% not worth it. Don't know why i'm so calm abt losing my stuff, i shldn't be. ok its maybe has its good and bad.

Just finished my ielts test on sat. Hopefully i can do quite well and if need go to australia to study. I can't really picture myself studying, its too painful just to see myself face books for hours. Focus is something i never really had. Relying on smartness won't get me far anymore, jc has proven that point out. About the course i wan, i'm not sure at all. Engineering is no.1 on my list, even my parent advocate that i take in uni. Its kinda of a bittersweet relationship, i hate it but that's the subject i been studying for all my life. What else can i take hmmm.......oh c'mon, everyone knows i love chinese literature :D and Gp in CHINESE OK!!!

Meh, several incidents outside camp keep me wanting to faster obilerate my army lifestyle for my civilian one. Too long more till i ORD. 350+ days, sianz.

20th this year felt better and way more special than last year. Not because i am older, but i really felt appreciated by others around me. Presents, cakes, everything for the perfect b'day. I didn't even have a proper b'day party for all to come and gather, but i still found it enjoyable. Jonk i must say ur rolling pin is extremely useful compared to ur 'pixelise' christmas card HAHA.
Even my sis bought 2 TWG earl grey package. Omg that's got to be the best gift in a while.

Been reading up more recipes, nid to try tier desserts already to be very professional. I'll skip souffles and panna cottas for now. Petite fours here i come.

V day incredibly sucks to be a single, even as much as u spend it with friends. It doesn't change the fact there are so many people openly displaying their love for others and i don't anything close. Hello people, felt like a VERY long week because i'm not in camp (and i sleep only everyday 5-6 hrs to enjoy maximium hours outside) Spend most of my CNY doing the usual, collecting hongbaos, eating alot of pineapple tarts and meeting relatives and cousins. Somehow usually i feel no ownership on hosting CNY well cause the parents always ensure it every year. Maybe in a few years time we will be ones organising it, probably doing all the cooking or for all those cmi, they will be buying it. It still worries me, if my sis will ever bother to meet any of my relatives. She doesn't bother for anyone much, visitor or not.

Been playing a lot of League of Legends and watching Top Chef Allstars and Top Chef Just Dessert. Man i wish could be there, cooking or baking with the experience of a lifetime. All those food stylist, pastry chef and professional really know their desserts and ingredients like its a history, heritage or culture of its own. Ok at least by watching all those shows, i begin to understand or be introduced to this kind of dishes. My brain juices are working for valentines day, ideas are following but execution is a huge difference.

I'm quite happy with my walk with God recently, been really sticking close to him and listening to him. Reading this book solely on drawing close to him. I'm hungering for more.

Hello people, i'm on my last day of holidays! Taking so many days of leave is the best thing ever. But all good things have to come to an end, at least i been out with almost all my friends haha. Loving my new camera, my new cookbook and i shall not forget God.

Been think hard of what God has done for me, i'm about two decades old! And there's a lot to praise him about, family, friends, gifts he bestowed on me, the mercy he gave. Ok i'm going out already, type later!

Right after christmas and b4 CNY is the best time to buy things since everything is on discount and i need to pick up a lot more new clothes, i haven't really bothered ever since i entered army. Even b4 that i was working so most of time i was in my nice long sleeve shirts. Since i'm going to do shift work for the rest of my army term. It will be half the time civilian. Need clothes alright.

I'm feel very blessed this year, no doubt abt the gifts i got, but its the people that actually thought of giving something. Even people that nvr return any presents usually haha. Buying and wrapping presents was all i did for my first day in unit life. Strangely 8-5pm job don't permit a lot of time to do things outside. Nights out everyday is pretty useful though like now when i want to meet friends for dinner or buying gifts or watching movies or find a recipe and experiment over it throughout the evening and night.

Day 1 of unit life, nothing much. Today was a time where i return to camp with a black 3 chevrons instead. It felt like nothing has happened, nothing changed at all as we disappeared. The passing out parade was so epic and yet nothing is going on back within the command. Without the training school taking us, we are pretty much waiting for time to do things. I don't mind this kind of lifestyle for awhile, but if i slack for the rest of my army term i'll just go nuts cos i know i have not use my time purposefully. My jaw drop when i knew that my next week is completely free from my superior. Need to clear all those leave anyway so it was nice of them to check the balance and sort out my leave. If i was given the choice when to take leave i will be completely overwhelmed when to use it.

I OFFICIALLY PASS OUT OF MP SPEC COURSE 05/10!!! Hell yeah i'm 3SG now. Wonder how's unit life is going to be like, how do you help and bring ur team up. Nurturing others while nurturing yourself in the process. I have a lot of things to learn.

Helped the community celebrate christmas at the punggol community centre, christmas starts when you begin to give. For many years i repeatedly hear this saying and i only suddenly understood it last yr after i went to myanmar during my entire christmas. Reaching to others so that they can feel God's love is all that we christians should be doing this christmas season. Anyway i got to wake up for 5.45am for work tmr :) Goodnight.

What a week. I sleep so little this week. Sleeping 4 hrs on tues, 3 hrs on weds night and never all the way to friday night. My body is aching and itching from the multiple sandfly bites. Luckily i wasn't bitten on the face much, some of the other cadets face is completely filled with sandfly bite marks. Carried like 600 sandbags (the rain soaked it and made it heavier) and a lot of other shit. It's over, no more field camp for me. No more getting dirty with mother nature!

I have been shooting plastic targets for 200 bucks last tuesday.
Yes my left side of my army shirt is finally filled up and it looks beautiful.

I'm just a month away from being a sergeant and i have a lot to think about.
MP demands a lot and there is so many different job scope. From investigation to criminal records to guardroom security and etc. I really don't know which i want to spend my life doing. I want to do something fulfilling for the rest of the army life and with one that does not affect my weekends.

Apple Crumble Pie!

Awesome days makes you feel like the tiring and slow months are worth it. The worst friday and the best saturday.

Church was fantastic, the anointing just poured down during worship. It was refreshing cos i spent countless week being a terrible worship leader. I'm just waiting to be a vessel to be used by the Lord. All of us in church knows we need a change, its just how.

Night time on sat went out with secondary school best pals, luke and alicia. Good friends never fail to have a good meet up even though we hardly meet since sec sch days. Just spending together nowadays is the best u can get.

I can't wait for thursday (equivalent to a bookout this week) I'm looking at all the food online and all the talk about makes me go hungry. Some fine dining would satisfy my palettes. Italian will be fantastic. This is day 1 in camp. Geez.

I'm not clicking with God much the past week even though i have been read His word consistently. Feel very dry, i don't what to do. Kinda feel no motivation to do much this weekend. All i did useful so far was maybe to read the Strait Times, Recurits section. Seem to give me the general impression that mainly management is the only form of job since it dominated most of the entire newspaper. I really don't know what i'm going to get into seriously. My qt on tues i think had some link to this current situation, but its not very clear yet.

Maybe i'm stressed. (which is incredibly strange for a NS boy)

I'm glad to be back from camp, this week was on presentation skills and road marches. MP command has a really different scope from the other units. Especially on friday when i watched 3 completely units work. First the rifle spinning drill squad, those u see in national day spinning the rifle with fireworks sparkle coming out from the rifle muzzle. They had a end course performance. Nothing to cool compared to those that are going to ORD (their spinning is gay) but its pretty intereesting to watch them. They spend a month on it, its woth a watch.

Then there's the dog unit, the spec course walked into its inside compound. There's so many dogs and those 9-10 yrs old guard dogs (german shepherd) was super huge, i understand wat they mean by people are more scared of a dog then a soldier with a SAR21. The dogs there are extremely obedient which is very amazing. Wonder how many hrs of training they take to reach that standard.

Got a cool webcam, quite useful man. Alright no need to pick up the phone anymore at home :D

Terrible end to my in camp life was when i got food poisoning. Man it was really bad, fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing, inability to eat, headache. I don't know why i didn't just ATT C at that point, i just wanted to shoot my pistol on fri. At least when i was shooting i felt perfectly fine thanks to the adrealine rush i got during the shots. Perfect score :) nothing to boost about anyways, there's no cash or badge for it.

I'm still sick and resting at home but i'm getting very restless already.
Maybe i need to get out of the house.

my nice egg tart i made last wk!!!

This is one wkend with a lot going on.
Firstly, had a long day on friday at sentosa playing games. My team was very fantastic for the fact we lost every game except one (which we got first place LOL) Since army is all boys u can play a lot of rough games which i enjoyed even though we lose many. The thrill of the games somehow overtook my nature to win and if u seen me play games, i am very competitive in church, school, anywhere where it is a game. Hanging with the section was a refreshing time with new friends.

Second, i treated my cell group to a meal. All of them is in sec 4 and is abt to take their O level in 5wks. It was the best time for them to hang out and enjoy themselves b4 they start to focus hard on their studies. Spent a lot on them yet i don't feel very pain by lost of the cash. Maybe its because i been looking at jonk's cell leader in St Hilda where they will always take their members out for dinner and they always foot the bill. Being compassionate for this cell group is important. I'm left without my cell leader for half a year, sigh. O well i think the kids are doing well together, hope they grow together. The cell might break next year to join the tertiary but let that be settled later.

Third, i fix my l4d2 :D Can play new campaigns. Haven't in a long while, i got dizzy after just 1 hr of blasting zombies into shreds haha.

Fourth, deal with some relationship problems gosh hope it settles, i suck and really prefer to avoid the matter altogether. Time will cool things down.

Fifth, Hilary is flying off already to Leeds. Omg hil will miss u so much, u been a fantabulous fail chinese friend. BUY ME SOME IMBA EARL GREY TEA BACK

My my, after watching step up 3 i must say i really want to pick up a bit of dancing and some of those poping and locking. Dance just like music is an expression of oneself and will be pretty fun to do so.

Well its MP tmr! Hope i get to go into a fun unit and make some good friends there. Really starting from scratch here, i'm the only guy in the platoon to get MP. I will miss all my SCS friends. Last week 28km route march was pretty bad experience. Got blisters, abrasions and aching shoulders. Walking in the darkness like zombies that were sleepwalking. People can just start to drift left and right. My PC is a commando, no choice, just chiong with him.

Anyway monday morning and i just woke up in my OWN bedroom. The feeling has nvr felt better.

Well basically i have already finish BSLC and now i'm moving to Military Police, all the awesomeness in the world. I was so delighted when my name got called for it, i didn't really expect it even though i got a interview in BMT that i said i wanted to go alr. God really granted the desire of my heart. Time to bake cya!

Another sunday i'm sitting here reflecting about my week before i book in. Hmm i must say i'm quite unsatisified with my baking this wk. I tried mixing butter cookie dough and chopped apples together, seems like the apple didn't give any much taste to the mixture. At least i bought a lot of dewberry biscuits for my week, so i'm a happy dude :)

It's the first week without tiffany as the cell leader in church. Mixed feelings about it. Now i must take charge even though i don't have much time at all. I'm just glad the sec4s are getting quite comfortable with each other at least after a year with each other. I must persevere on on taking this group.

Other than that, i'm glad all the high key events are over for BSLC alr. There's a time to rest and its now.

I can't believe i could not recognise my very good primary school friend when i met him in SCS 2 wks ago. Ian Chong, sorry bro its been too many years since i seen you. It's been 6-7 years alr and we grown since then, its really hard to rmb. I hope that incident won't happen in the future with any of my other friends. Probably anyone who could not be recognised will be very disappointed to have such a friend.

Had a 2 poor weeks of outfield training/field camp. Infantry is really not fun.

I dunno what got into me today, i was supposed to attend some 'walk through the old testament', after 2 hrs i just couldn't take it anymore, i just wanted to go home. So i head home, eat lunch, play com and went to sleep for 4 hrs and now here i am.

Wonder wat consumed me, maybe it was spending an entire day in camp ytd taking care of my company office. Maybe its becos i haven't been reading my bible well for a week since last week were spent in the jungle with all the mud. I'm so consumed living the life of a soldier. I just want my holidays.

IPPT GOLD :D 200 bucks richer n slightly earlier bookout. Running 9.44mins for 2.4km is definitely with God's help. I rmb my first ippt in army was truely a nightmare to run only 12mins and do 3 cui pullups. Glad my physical is improving even though we hardly do physical training in SCS.

It's the first week in SCS, man life here is good. A lot more freedom, a lot of canteen break, no pumping yet, non-existent stand by area/bed. Everyone reckons is the best life you can get in your entire army experience. Somehow my first week there wasn't.

Maybe cause it's after block leave. Well you can call it post block leave blues. That wasn't the only thing, i'm missing my platoon in BMT, it been a fun bunch that always allowed me to feel at home back then, though my company people all came together in SCS, its a watered down version of Pegasus platoon 2. Well not everything stays the same. BMT a good experience. Good morning SCT. (Specialist Cadet Trainee for short)

I'm really coming more independent. Dun feel like typing my thoughts down now. Maybe the next time i blog.

Today i been doing everything about food, reading cookbooks, buying ingredients, trying a messy combination of ingredient (it's in the fridge, but i think its quite fail LOL), watching hell's kitchen. Ok foodie here must rmb to keep fit this week! Don't slack off and die exercising next unit!

It's the last bookout for BMT! I really can't believe time pass so fast. Training is tough, but you learn a lot and improve a lot be it physically or mentally. Knowing zero about a soldier just 2 mths ago is definitely an amazing experience. Friends there are very tight too cos of all the shit we go through together. I thank God for such an experience even though i at times worry, complain and completely sian. There is hundreds of times i think of my friends, you guys be it church, sec sch, JC and i wish for more times to meet you guys cos i dun like smsing or calling people in army.

Anyway this wk my dad threw away the 20 yr old TV (one yr older than me) which is frankly quite sad cos i watched practically everything on that tv like power rangers to american idol hah. Things will always change, memories kinda fade, God remains the same above my situation.

To be under a concrete house, a house with lights, a house with fans, a house with CLEAN WATER, a house with food. When you are starved of your basic needs, that’s when you appreciate the small things like this. Well it’s been one week in field camp and i never felt better of my home in tekong and even more my home in katong.

What i have been doing there? It’s hard to explain to people who haven’t gone through the motion. Carrying your 20kg bag and walk 8km to ur campsite, pitch up a tent and dig drainage (and the rain came an hr later to test the drainage), high kneeling all the time in the mud and u prefer it to be mud then concrete, get super lot of punishments using ur rifle to carry them out, digging ur grave to sleep in and burying it the next day, prone on the ground for hrs looking into forest not moving.

Don’t worry, the experience is worth keeping, eating rations, doing firing drills and taking cover, shooting PAINTBALL that doesn’t splatter (lol). Live it once right and look back and congratulate urself. Congrats Samuel.

Anyway i baked some awesome lemon cookies, not too hard ones most importantly. I don’t like hard stone cookies. Cookies are meant to melt in ur mouth :D

So its 3 hrs to my way back into army life.

I feel weird, i keep feeling tekong is reality and my life at home is the dream. What a weird conception, both have to exist. Secondly, time pass slowly in tekong, especially since we only sleep 6+ hrs and spend 12 hrs exercising, carrying rifles or washing my own clothes. I'm happy that i get along with my bunkmates, co-existing becomes an ease. I wish for more time for my aching muscles to rest.

HEY PEOPLE, i'm in NS in tekong and is back from my 2.5 wks there.
So far, not bad. Of cos its very tiring everyday but u feel shiok after working out so much.
I don't miss home too much, i missed freedom as much as i thought.

Actually i really missed worship. Today going to church and immersing myself in worship shook me. i haven't been in beautiful music for a long time.

Jamming today was so much, free spirited jamming.
No communication, just playing and listening.
That where u feel good when u get it right. Non-verbal communciation at its best.
You can be the best music player, but u can't work with other musician, u are still dead.

Anyway i enjoyed myself throughly. I can't believe me n luke turn off the lights slept in the jamming studio with john mayer playing and my friend drumming. Guess music is soothing :)

Sunday, the day that jesus arised. Truely, i been looking at songs that has to do with the cross and hugely improve my experience in worship. Songs like At the Cross, Lead Me to Cross, At the foot of the Cross. These songs brings u into a very different atomsphere from the normal songs i like aka with all i am, power of your love, from the inside out. Songs about the cross brings you out of ur self-nature in worship and there is breakthrough.

LIFECON THIS YEAR WAS AWESOME. Srsly, i didn't expect to be so good. I scream for the encore "ONE WAY" at the top of lungs. Such joy, worshipping like a child who doesn't hold back, not caring about who is arnd u. Awesome time, awesome atomsphere (obviously siao SAJCian presence) damn i wish i was still in school hahaha. Everyone's face was beaming after the concert. So sad i gotta run early to church. Anyway my church had a prayer meeting from 10-2am for good friday. Then today had a short music retreat. So tired after it, i just knock out on my bed till 7+

I'm baking like 3 times a wk lol. This rawks my socks. My genoise (french sponge cake) is in the oven now muahahha, better come out good!

Hey people, i'm back with my new tiramisu cheesecake!!! Sadly the taste didn't live up to my expectations. Its ok, need some fine tuning to the recipe.

Most of my post sound unhappy, but no i'm not. I'm been through the most interesting time of my life where play meets work. Learn work skills, raising my guitar to another level, been able to bake. The simple things yes it is, but i give thanks for it all. Though i must say attending the lifecon rehearsals, made me realise of me in the past always wanting so badly to play on huge stage or concert playing music to massive group of people. It was my dream, yet after sec sch i tried acting all mature and put down the dream to be 'realistic'. Yet i realise i've achieve nothing from doing it that, and i know the opportunities are yet to come. Rule no.32 of zombieland comes in handy; Enjoy the Little Things.

So i be stopping work this week, i'll say i'll miss all the people i meet and enjoy being arnd with. I will use my last month properly, been a lot of self (the things i doing), now i should start mentoring others, lead by example, keep my mindset strong before i enter army. Yes i will. God will empower me.
